About Us

The Wyoming Association of Irrigation Districts (WAID) is dedicated to advancing the interests of our members who are shareholder organizations registered with the Wyoming Secretary of State who facilitate water delivery systems through the administration of adjudicated Wyoming irrigation water rights for the purpose of production agriculture.  These organizations include but are not limited to:

  • Irrigation districts
  • Ditch companies
  • Canal companies
  • Conservation districts
  • Watershed Improvement districts

With a vision to foster effective water resource management at the local level, WAID stands as a collective voice for Wyoming's emerging network of Irrigation Water Delivery Districts. These districts play a vital role in sustaining water-related initiatives that contribute to the well-being of our communities.

The purpose of the Association is to share information for the betterment of our members, share solutions to common issues, lobby our State and Federal governments as well as the following:

  • Support and Encourage the State Engineers office in the work they do protecting Agriculture Water Rights.
    • This includes storage, natural flow, and underground water rights.
  • Promote Irrigation with the State Legislature.
    • Requesting a New Fund dedicated to Agriculture related Water Projects.
    • Request more funding for Rehabilitation of Ageing Infrastructure.
    • Update State Statutes pretaining to Water Law to address current needs.
  • Promote Saving Irrigated Ag Land from urban development.

Together we make a positive influence.
